Frantic Arms Buildup

Of late, the south Korean authorities is hell-bent on increasing defense budget and reinforcement of the military strength.  Some days ago, the south Korean military authorities compiled next year’s defense budget 10.43 trillion won which is 8 percent higher as compared with this year. Meantime, the south Korean authorities intends to purchase two stealth fighters in the middle of this month and ten fighters by the end of this year. They are going to deploy four high-altitude reconnaissance drones in this year.   In the past, the south Korean military authorities launched  military exercises for aggression under various codenames  to  stoke war fever. It is a  frontal challenge to desire of the Korean nation and international community to make the Korean Peninsula a durable and lasting peace zone and wanton violation of inter-Korean military agreement which agreed to eradicate military hostility between the north and south. The south Korea...

All-out Anti-Japanese, Anti-Conservative Struggle Called for

Pyongyang, July 25 (KCNA) -- The Central Committee of the Anti-Imperialist National Democratic Front (AINDF) on Thursday made public an appeal calling on the south Korean people from all walks of life to stage an anti-Japanese and anti-conservative struggle, according to the website Kuguk Jonson. The appeal says that the denunciation of Japan's impudent and gangster-like economic invasion of south Korea has become increasingly vocal, adding that the anti-Japanese protest is an eruption of curse and anger, hatred and denunciation against Japan drawing a sword of aggression on the economy and people of south Korea again to realize its wild ambition for reinvasion. It goes on: What is more intolerable is the fact that the Japanese reactionaries adopted all the Koreans as a target of recent gangster-like retaliatory measures, groundlessly linking the measures with the north and calling the south Korean people "mean ones" and "ill-bred kids." At a time when ...

Eternal Father of Nation

Eternal Father of Nation This is July in which the public irresistible reverence for President  Kim Il Sung  is fervent.  Twenty-five years have elapsed since President  Kim Il Sung  passed away, however, he is alive in the minds of the Korean nation.  He is the peerless patriot and great man unparalleled in history who devoted his life just for the sake of his nation. The country’s multi-millennial history knows many famous persons but no one except President  Kim Il Sung  admired and revered by all people century after century. The Korean people have been blessed with illustrious leaders generation after generation, a pro-reunification figure in Seoul said with emotion. A student living in Busan said: The sun is eternal. Traitors Have No Room for Existence: KCNA Commentary

Pyongyang, July 16 (KCNA) -- The DPRK-U.S. summit meeting and talks held with surprise at Panmunjom, the symbol of hostility and confrontation, served as an occasion to build unprecedented trust between the DPRK and the U.S., which made all the Koreans and the whole world brim with excitement and emotion. But the south Korean conservatives, displeased with the world-stirring event, are getting impatient to downplay its significance. The conservative groups including the "Liberal Korea Party" and the "Parun Mirae Party" slander the recent DPRK-U.S. summit meeting, letting loose such invectives as "it is merely for show" and "there is no change in reality and essence despite the U.S.-north Korea summit meeting". Their slander is no more than a death cry of traitors who are marginalized by the trend of peace with no room left for their existence for having staked their fate on confrontation, hostility, tension and war. Peace and security of ...

Indelible June Popular Resistance

Image
The June popular resistance, 32 years ago, was the eruption of south Korean people’s pent-up wrath at the Chun Doo-hwan military junta which had engrossed in unprecedented sycophancy, fascist oppression and anti-reunification moves. From June 10 to 29, more than three million people of different strata took part in the resistance to blow up governing bodies and throw hundreds of police vehicles into the fire. Frightened by the south Korean people’s dynamic action aspiring after independence, democracy and reunification, the US and Chun military junta bent their knees to the people by publishing “a special declaration” the core of which is the introduction of a direct presidential election on June 29.    The June popular resistance delivered a staggering blow to the US and the south Korean military dictatorial force and left an indelible trace as it brought about a fresh turn in the struggle against the US and fascism. Many years have passed since the resistance...
