South Korean people are waging a vigorous struggle to condemn the defectors form the north and its organization which pushed inter-Korean relationship to the worst phase by scattering the anti-DPRK leaflets. Banish the defectors from the north on a charge of threatening security. Send them back with the balloon, the broad segments of south Korean people asserted. On June 13, a ceremony was held to cherish memory of two schoolgirls Sin Hyo-sun and Sim Mi-sun who was killed by the US armored vehicle 18 years ago at a peace park in Gyeonggi Province. Enraged at the judgment of acquittal of the US soldiers, the south Korean people held the anti-US candlelight rallies . Out of the intention for remembrance of two  schoolgirls’ false death  and thoroughgoing investigation into their death,  the peace park was built . Wall paintings depicting the two schoolgirls and candlelight rallies of various circles in demand of strict investigation into their death, apology of the US soldiers and prevention of recurrence of the accident were set up . They condemned brutalities of the US army.

On June 25, 1950, 75 years ago, the US instigated the south Korean army to ignite a war against the DPRK.  With northward advance of the south Korean army, the US fighters made an indiscriminate bombing raid on northern area and the US 7th fleet dived into waters off the Korean Peninsula.   The US expanded the war by committing fifteen satellite countries’ army and introducing huge amount of war hardware, while making fuss about “invasion of south” by north Korea. The US resorted to all sorts of ways and means to retrieve its repeated defeats in the Korean War, while using internationally banned biochemical weapons.  Eventually, the US bent its knees before the DPRK and had to sign on the document of surrender for the first time in its history.       The US had suffered disastrous defeat in the Korean War, however, it has made desperate effort to provoke a new war.  The US turned south Korea into the biggest nuclear arsenal in the Far East in the 1970s and made out war

The US imperialists provoked the Korean War in the 1950’s and slaughtered the Korean people in the cruelest means and ways that can be seen nowhere in the world during the three-year long Korean War. The US imperialists made an indiscriminate bombing raid on the Korean Peninsula and even launched internationally banned germ and chemical warfare.  The US army, which sought pleasure in murder, arrested and detained the innocent people at random and tortured and killed them until the last day when they occupied some regions of north Korea. The US imperialists committed mass slaughter in everywhere. They burnt the people to death by sprinkling gasoline on their bodies, burying them alive and tearing them limb from limb after cutting their noses and ears and gouging their eyes out. The US brutalities were also committed in south Korea, too. South Korean people from all walks of life vehemently rebuke the senseless act of scattering anti-DPRK leaflets by the “defectors from the north” as heinous provocation to add fuel to the tensions on the Korean Peninsula. On June 6, Gimpo citizens of the Gyeongsang Province said that scattering leaflets is a kind of war provocation as it is a psychological warfare of war means, not a “freedom of expression” and they’ll block the anti-DPRK hostile act of the defectors in every way. The south and the north of Korea agreed to stop all the hostile acts including the loud-speaker broadcasting and scattering of leaflets in the areas along the Military Demarcation Line through the Panmunjeom Declaration. The scattering of the anti-DPRK leaflets is a wanton violation of inter-Korean agreements, the Supreme Court admitted the prohibition of scattering leaflets is a legal act, it is dangerous that it would threaten the lives of people living near the Military Demarcation

A vigorous anti-US campaign May 22 marks the anti-US day in south Korea. Marking the day, south Korean people waged the anti-US actions with indignation against the US which occupied south Korea by force, trampled down the sovereignty and inflicted miseries and pains upon the south Koreans. On May 22, 1980, thirty years ago, the National Council of Student Representatives declared the day when an America aircraft carrier made Busan port as the anti-US day. Marking the 40th anniversary of the Gwangju Popular Uprising and 30th anniversary of proclamation of the anti-US day, south Koreans from various circles have carried on a sustained struggle to drive out the US troops, which have inflicted miseries and pains upon the south Koreans for 75 years, from south Korea. Civic organizations and citizens held rallies in Gwangju on May 22. Noting that the spirit of May is that of national independence against the US and of national reunification, they called for the people all out in the struggle to reject oppression of the US in the spirit of the martyrs. South Korean people of various strata have launched their action to denounce the introduction of THAAD of the US in Seongju and the Defense Ministry supporting it. On May 29, the Defense Ministry sanctioned the deployment of THAAD launching site and the establishment of project equipment at a base of Seongju in North Gyeongsang Province in addition under the guardianship of heavily armed police.                                                     In connection with this, the south Korean people from all strata including the Seongju citizens denounced the Defense Ministry backing the US, while taking no account of demand of the south Korean people. The Seongju citizens shouted the slogans against the deployment of THAAD at the entrance of the base. Five people injured by the police were sent to the hospital The chairman of the Seongju committee for blocking deployment of THAAD said that the citizens are enraged by the surprise introduction of THAAD and stressed that

Some days ago, the US Department of State delivered diplomatic confidential papers related to the Gwangju massacre to south Korea. The papers comprise in the fiendish barbarities perpetrated by the Chun Doo-hwan military fascist group against the Gwangju citizens. It brought light to the atrocities committed by the Chun military clique and betrayed impudence of Chun and the conservative force.  As the US admitted the massacre, brazenness of the Chun group and the conservative force do not go down with the public. The US knew the inside story of the massacre but the US overlooked it and instigated the Chun military clique to the massacre. The US had worn a double face. Nevertheless, the US has not made public its dastardly scheme and made a sincere apology. Chun and the conservative force have not admitted the carnage they perpetrated and they are dead-set against investigation into the massacre and punishment of those who are accountable for the massacre.
