The workers’ meetings were held to remember Chun Tae-il in Seoul and different parts of south Korea at the same time sponsored by the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions. Chun was a working youth who cried “We eager to live like a human being” in demand of improvement of poor labor environment for the women workers. He burned himself to death. The workers’ meeting to remember Chun is held in November every year.

   Resumption of Wednesday Rally   On Nov. 11, a Wednesday rally in demand of removal of THAAD was resumed in Soseng-ri, Songju County, North Gyeongsang Province where THAAD is deployed. South Korean people from all walks of life hardened their resolve to launch a dynamic struggle to withdraw THAAD on the occasion of the 166th Wednesday rally in Soseong-ri. Let’s withdraw THAAD and make peace by ourselves, the representatives of the other committees raised their voices. The performance improvement of THAAD 　 is only for defending the US mainland. There is no reason that THAAD deployed in the Korean Peninsula at all, a speaker said. They demanded the removal of THAAD casting bean sacks to the model of THAAD.     

   In demand of halt to shooting practice of the US army   The residents in Pohang, North Gyeongsang Province strongly expressed their opposition to postponement of shooting practice of the US army helicopters. The decision of postponement made by the Ministry of Defense implies the resumption of shooting exercise at any time. It is unacceptable. It must be withdrawn at once, the residents noted.     

   Unchanged Nature   115 years have passed since the Japanese imperialists fabricated the "Ulsa (1905) Five-point Treaty”. In order to force the "treaty" on the Korean feudal government, the heavily-armed Japanese army surrounded the royal palace ring upon ring and put Seoul under martial law in November, 1905. It was the most ferocious dispossession of national sovereignty unprecedented in the history of humanity. With conclusion of the treaty, Japan’s military occupation of Korea was legalized.      A civil organization of south Korea called a news conference outside the Supreme Public Prosecutor’s Office on Nov. 3 to strongly demand withdrawal of the privilege of the prosecution. The prosecution with the right to investigation and indictment has exercised almighty influence. It has exerted its power to keep dictatorial regime. It is wielding sword to protect conservatism and themselves, the participants noted.      Excessive privilege and practice of the prosecution made it a group which dominates the masses. The privilege of the prosecution should be removed as soon as possible, they stated. After the end of the news conference, the organization handed a protest letter to the Supreme Public Prosecutor’s Office.  

   Stop pressure on students   According to the Tongil news, the Progressive Federation of Students of south Korea had a press conference to condemn the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency for throwing suspicion on two members of the organization on charge of violation of the National Security Law on Nov. 3. A member of the organization asserted that there is backstage manipulation of the US and ultra-rightist conservative forces behind the crackdown. The police crackdown is aimed to block the activities of the students demanding a thoroughgoing investigation into the death caused by an armored vehicle of the US army and the punishment of those who are accountable for it, the organization noted. It urged the police to stop the pressure on the students, it added.  

   Deceitful junket to Gwangju   The chairman of the emergency measure committee of the People’s Power Party made a visit to Gwangju on November 3. He tried to win popularity with budget for Gwangju and North and South Cheolla Provinces through his visit. His trip is no more than strategy for upcoming election and mere gesture without sincerity, the residents and student in Gwangju charged.   The Gwangju Solidarity for Progress and other organizations in a joint statement said that the opposition People’s Power Party revealed its black-hearted intention during three months and it would not win popularity of the North and South Cheolla Provinces.   Students denouncing deceitful trip made by the opposition People’s Power Party  

   In demand of investigation into death   On Oct. 30, the Daegu and North Gyeongsang Headquarters of the Solidarity for the People’s Sovereignty had a press conference in demand of investigation into the death by an armored vehicle of the US army and the punishment of those who are responsible for it outside the Camp Walker of the US military base in Daegu. Fair investigation and implacable punishment of the offender would serve as an important opportunity to take stern legal action against crimes of the US forces across south Korea, they said.    They shouted slogans “Thoroughgoing investigation into the death by an armored car of the US army”, “Punish those who are accountable for it” and “Close the US 2nd division.” On the same day, the Bar Association for Democratic Society urged the US and south Korean authorities to make a strict investigation into the death.      The Buddhism Solidarity for Peace and Unification issued a statement in demand of withdrawal of the US forces from south Korea and punishment of those who are accountable for the death of a citizen. The statement demanded immediate withdrawal of the US troops from south Korea, thoroughgoing investigation into the death of a south Korean by an armored vehicle of the US army, the punishment of those who are responsible for the death and closing of the US 2nd division. Over 80 citizens in Seoul had a press conference to declare the action for international peace. They stressed that it is time to make a strict investigation into the death of a south Korean, punish those accountable for it and withdraw the foreign forces infringing upon the people’s lives from south Korea.    

   Eruption of pent-up anger   There is a growing tendency against the US in south Korea. 60 percent south Koreans asserted independent diplomacy with the US, 54 percent said the reduction of the US forces in south Korea and 96.3 percent rejected south Korea's share of defense cost for the US forces. The civil organizations including the Progressive Federation of Students and the Solidarity for the People’s Sovereignty carry on dynamic action in demand of permanent suspension of the south Korea-US joint military drills, the dissolution of the south Korea-US alliance and withdrawal of the US forces from south Korea through one-man demonstration, galvanization of public opinion through internet and exhibition of placards amid spread of COVID-19.
