Some days ago, the Busan People’s Solidarity held a press conference to denounce the US.   We are suffering from worldwide COVID-19 pandemic and the US is inflicting miseries upon us. The anti-US struggle is the one to defend the workers’ right to live, the head of the Busan headquarters under the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions claimed. The head of the Busan branch under the Progressive Party said that it will turn out in the struggle to put an end to the unequal US-south Korean alliance. For whom the US-south Korean alliance is necessary? We do not want the US-south Korean alliance obedient to the US and it is of little avail to the national prosperity and peace of the Korean Peninsula, the permanent representative of the women association of Busan said.      

  South Korean media outlets and experts in north Korean affairs show deep concern at precarious situation of the Korean Peninsula.  Washington pushes the situation of the Korean Peninsula to an extreme pitch of strain by persisting in its hostile policy toward north Korea, the media outlets said. Peace would not settle on the Korean Peninsula as long as the Uncle Sam has pursued the policy hostile to north Korea, they predicted.   The experts in north Korean affairs claimed that the south Korean authorities are blame for the ruptured inter-Korean relations and keenly realize it.  The media outlets and experts in north Korean affairs commented that the US and south Korean authorities’ U-turn in their attitude is a solution to     recovery of the bedeviled inter-Korean relationship.

  To be frank, south Korea finds itself in a delicate position. The US has pushed south Korea for participation in Quad to contain China. It is as plain as a pikestaff that south Korea is doomed to alienate from China, the biggest economic partner, if it takes part in the Quad. It is beyond doubt that it cannot escape from a baptism of rejection from China. Chinese Huan Qiu Shibao and Global Times highlighted south Korea’s participation in the Quad would offer more disadvantages than advantages.   Some south Korean politicians have claimed that the Biden administration and the south Korean authorities should devise their hostile policies toward north Korea from different standpoint, south Korean media outlets said.   On March 16, employees working at attachments for Kia Motors went on a stay-in strike at a working place in demand of improvement of working environment and suspension of suppression of the trade unions.       At a news conference, they stated that they have fought for the right to labor for fourteen months.   They required the firm to improve poor working environment, suspend the suppression of the trade unions and ensure activity of the trade unions. However, the firm cracked down the trade unions by forming the company union sycophant to the management side. The company union is not on the employees’ side, they would carry on action until the firm complies with the trade unions, they stressed.  

Intense Struggle for Abolition of NSL   A few days ago, the People's Action for Abolition of the National Security Law composed of 100 civil organizations including the Bar Association for Democratic Society, the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions and the Solidarity for Progress had a press conference to declare its inauguration in Seoul.       The abolition of NSL is a task before the times and historical one which brooks no moment’s delay. The NSL has violated the basic rights of the people including freedom of idea, conscience and expression and restrained the process of democracy for 73 years, it claimed through the statement. The NSL has not been enacted through the people’s support from the beginning. It has been fabricated in a violent and fraudulent way with the exclusive backing of the pro-Japanese elements, Park Seok-un, the representative of the Solidarity for Progress charged at the news conference.   Days ago, the Seoul Progressive Federation of University Students had a news conference in demand of withdrawal of the US forces present in south Korea outside the Yongsan Garrison.  Referring to the fact that serious contamination of the Yongsan Garrison, it reprimanded the US army which has evaded the responsibility for environmental pollution, hosted a dance party without wearing face coverings, and committed indescribable sexual assault and murder. There is no ground for the US forces to be stationed in south Korea and they should leave south Korea after atoning for their crimes. We will carry on uninterrupted action until the US forces in south Korea be withdrawn from south Korea, it stressed .  

   Strong opposition to joint war exercise   Despite the strong protest and rejection by the Korean nation and world peace-loving people, the US and south Korean trigger-happy groups launched the joint military game from March 8. Civil organizations of different strata carry out dynamic drive against the north Korea-targeted war exercise.              

  Pro-unification organizations including the South Side Committee for Implementing June 15 Joint Declaration had a video meeting with overseas Korean organizations and international peace groups on Feb. 19.  The deterioration of inter-Korean ties and the DPRK-US relations are attributable to cancellation of the US and south Korea’s commitments with the DPRK to suspend joint military rehearsals, they noted at the meeting. The south Korean and US authorities have larded the joint military exercises with the word of "annual one with defensive nature", however, it is the war game against north Korea both in name and in reality, speakers from the US noted.
