Image
A big proving ground for bio-chemical warfare Shortly ago, it was disclosed that the U.S. continues to carry forward a scheme for bio-chemical war against the DPRK in south Korea. It arouses great concern in south Korea.   As known, the U.S. Defense Department worked out a "budgetary estimate of bio-chemical defense program for fiscal 2019" that witnesses 15.6 percent of year-on-year increase in the budget for "Jupiter Plan", a bio-chemical war scenario against the DPRK, 34.5 percent of the budget to be allotted to the U.S. forces-tied 8th Dock in Pusan Port housing a comprehensive bio-chemical weapon laboratory and related equipment. The plan includes an examination of the environmental influence on the area by the bio-chemical weapon, early alert, report on surveillance of bio-chemical weapon, discernment experiment of bio-chemical weapon and medical experiment on a living body. It is an intolerable act that the U.S. is pushing ahead with the plan in a

Ill-boding remarks

On March 14, Na Gyong-won floor leader of the opposition Liberty Korea Party insisted on the special investigation committee into anti-national act divided the nation after Korea’s liberation at a meeting of the party.  In this regard, civic organizations and descendants of fighters for national independence visited the National Assembly on March 22 to demand Na’s resignation of assemblywoman.                             A hundred years ago, the pro-Japanese element Lee Wan-yong made absurd remarks the anti-Japanese movement led to national disunion to weaken the Mach 1 independence resistance. Na made the same remarks as if Lee came back to life, they said. Na, who inflicted untold wounds upon the champions of independence movement and their descendants, should resign her membership and I demand Na to make an apology before the history and people in the name of a descendant of champion of independence movement, 101 years-old patriot Im Woo-churl noted. On March 18, a civ

KCNA Commentary on LKP Desperate Bid to Revive Dictatorship

Pyongyang, March 26 (KCNA) -- The "Liberal Korea Party" (LKP) of south Korea is now recklessly crying out for "checking the leftist dictatorship". Describing the present regime as a "leftist dictatorial regime," "pro-north fascist regime," "campaigning government," etc. coteries of the conservative and traitorous party set up a "special committee for checking the leftist dictatorship" within the party. They are branding the agreement on the "amendment to the election law" by the ruling party and three opposition parties as "a legislative coup for prolonging the life of the leftist dictatorial government." Their vicious campaign against the leftists based on the coloring theory reminds one of the dark fascist age when the successive dictators lorded it over. Deep-seated evil scum, who had been pushed to a tight corner after facing stern punishment of the history, are recklessly seeking to

On March 14, members of 66 civic organizations held a press conference outside the building of the Daegu City branch of the Liberty Korea Party, to demand the dissolution of the LKP denying the impeachment of Park Geun-hye and distorting the history of May 18 popular resistance. We demand the dissolution of the LKP distorting the history of candlelight resistance and democracy and laying a chill on the efforts for peace on Korean

North-targeted war game replacing the former

North-targeted war game replacing the former The south Korean military announced that the drill Alliance is the one replacing the annual Key Resolve and Foal Eagle and it will continue from March 4 to March 12. The Alliance is the exercise for invading north Korea in terms of its contents and goal.    The south Korean and US military said that the ongoing drill aims at examining wartime operation plan through computer-aided simulation of "the north's all-out invasion of the south" and increasing the capabilities to fight a war. They advertise that the codename of the military exercise was changed and the scale and duration have been reduced. However, its nature of aggression and confrontation remain unchanged.    The ill-boding moves of the south Korean military authorities and the U.S. are a wanton violation of the DPRK-U.S. joint statement and the north-south declarations and an open challenge to the aspiration and desire of all Koreans and the internati

Murky clouds over LKP

Hwang Gyo-ahn, former minister of justice and prime minister in the days of Park Geun-hye regime, was elected head of the Liberty Korea Party at the LKP convention held on Feb. 27.        Though the head of the LKP, whose aim is to revive the party which is on the verge of collapse by impeachment and successive defeats in the elections, was elected, however, the LKP has no future.   He played a leading part in breaking up the Unified Progressive Party, rejected extension of special investigation into Park Geun-hye and denied the impeachment of Park decided by all judges of the Constitutional Court.     Members of civic organizations including the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions, the Solidarity for Progress and the Progressive Federation of University Students of south Korea carried out a strong demonstration demanding dissolution of the LKP and denouncing Hwang who is disagreeing with impeachment of Park.

Nationwide anti-Japanese resistance

Image
Nationwide anti-Japanese resistance The March First Popular Uprising which was vigorously staged one century ago was the patriotic resistance to retake the sovereignty of the country and the nation usurped by the Japanese imperialists. The uprising swept over Korea in a moment and it influenced Koreans in foreign countries including Manchuria, Shanghai, the Littoral Province of Siberia and Hawaii. At that time, millions of broad spectrum of Korean people took part in the uprising. Stunned by the anti-Japanese resistance of the Korean people, the Japanese imperialists hurled all their repressive forces including the army and policemen into indiscriminately massacring the demonstrators, killing and arresting the people at random. The March First Popular Uprising fully demonstrated the Korean nation’s steadfast anti-Japanese spirit and independent mettle to decorate the page of history of the national liberation struggle against imperialism. Commemorative events were held i
