Some days ago, the organizations for peace against war and the residents at Soseong-ri in Seongju County carried out the 12th pan-national action for peace on the lapse of five years of deployment of THAAD in south Korea.   In denunciation of deployment of THAAD Introduction of THAAD and construction of its base are on the way under the protection of the police and president-elect Yoon Suk-yeol claims on normal operation of THAAD base and its additional deployment, they noted. The participants renewed their determination to launch an unrelenting campaign for withdrawal of THAAD, shouting slogans "For peace against THAAD", "Stop construction of the base", "Withdraw THAAD" and "Opposition to south Korea-US-Japan alliance".    

Misty Prospect   Some days ago, the People's Power Party and the Party for the People declared the merger of the two parties into one. It is not amazing. The merger of two parties is inevitable as the June 1 local election is at hand. There are shadows of dissension due to clash of interests of the two parties. There are signs of withdrawal from the Party for the People.   The relationship between Yoon Suk-yeol and Ahn Churl-soo is on the confines of explosion as Yoon nominated the candidates for minsters of new cabinet with those close to him. Ahn grumbled for Yoon's nomination. The road ahead of Yoon and Ahn is full of thorns. Trouble and friction between the two parties are unavoidable. It is apparent to all that the merger of two parties will be short-lived.    

  Informal decision for candidate for ministers of the Yoon Suk-yeol regime was concluded. The Yoon regime's sycophancy toward the US has been revealed. The pro-US elements were informally designated as the candidates for the Minister of Defense and Minister of Foreign Affairs.   It is well known that the successive conservative regimes have advertised pro-Americanism and been consistent with submission to the US. In this respect, it is not surprising that the candidates for ministers of foreign and security affairs with pro-Americanism were nominated. Intense struggle against Yoon's policy   President-elect Yoon Suk-yeol breached his commitment of labor made during the days of the presidential race and is inclined to conglomerate. His stance triggers sharp backlash from the labor circle. The labor organizations including the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions put the blame on the Yoon group supporting the business groups at the large-scale rallies and press conferences.   They demanded betterment of labor conditions, claiming Yoon's economic commitments are the policy for the business groups. The laborers are launching an unrelenting campaign carrying placards "right to labor without discrimination", "good labor conditions", "change of unequal system" and "regular jobs without part time jobs". The Yoon regime is deaf to the laborers' voices and intends to suppress the KCTU by branding its righteous struggle as an illegal one.                                                       

  The Yoon Suk-yeol' faction has divulged its pro-US and Japanese proclivities. Some days ago, the Yoon group met with the US special representative for north Korea who visited south Korea and reeled off a string of rubbish such as watertight bilateral cooperation and close understanding. Yoon had a luncheon with the US special representative for north Korea in camera and pledged himself to improve south Korea-US relations. As soon as he won the presidency, he talked his master over the telephone, paid visit to the US military base in Pyeongtaek and dispatched a delegation to the US to consult its future policy with the US. From the days of presidential candidate, Yoon is a pro-US man through and through and south Koreans are struck dumb by his submissive attitude toward the US. Laughable joint military rehearsal   Of late, the US nuclear-powered aircraft carrier  Abraham Lincoln  made its way into international waters of the Korean Peninsula to carry out a joint military exercise with the maritime "Self-Defense Force" of Japan. The exercise was aimed at detection and interception of north Korean ballistic missiles. The brass hats of the south Korean military and commander of US armed forces in south Korea got on the aircraft carrier to exchange information of north Korea and had a confab to cope with contingency in the Korean Peninsula. The joint military game, timed to coincide with this, was another adventurous provocation against north Korea.   However, it is ludicrous act.   Some days ago, the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions held a large-scale meeting in denunciation of south Korean president-elect Yoon Suk-yeol's labor policy.   What Yoon has mentioned for a month was anachronistic and absurd. The upcoming five years should the era of laborers not Yoon, they said. If Yoon comes in touch with the business groups and capital, the KCTU would launch a dynamic action together with 25 million laborers, it noted. The Yoon regime should give up its policy for the business groups and against the laborers and the KCTU would wage a stubborn action to hammer out the extreme inequality, the KCTU pointed out in a resolution.    The meeting is a preview of sharp conflict between the Yoon government and laborers and the Yoon government would be troubled with it from the outset of its term, south Korean mass outlets commented.

In demand of thoroughgoing investigation   Some days ago, a public meeting was held in demand of strict investigation into ferry Sewol disaster, punishment on those who are responsible for it and building up of a safe society in Seoul to mark the 8th year of sinkage of the ferry.     South Koreans demand thoroughgoing investigation. Flower and Butterfly   One summer day in 1970, during his on-the-spot guidance tour, Chairman  Kim Jong Il  stayed at a lake for a short time. Manure and Fruit   One May day in 1973 Chairman  Kim Jong Il  had a talk with some officials. He told the officials: What is most important for Party officials in acquiring a correct method of work and the art of leadership is to have the spirit of serving the people and the spirit of self-sacrifice. They should obediently devote their all to the revolution. He went on to say that Party officials' efforts were not well noticed by people because their efforts were like underground manure helping crops grow. He added: Party officials should not intend to show their faces in doing anything but go deep among the masses mixing themselves with the latter and substantially backing and actively encouraging administrative and economic officials in their work so as to achieve a success. His words constituted a valuable guideline awakening Party officials to the motto of their work and life.

Anti-war struggle for peace   The US and the south Korean military are hell bent on the joint military drill against the north. Of late, the Progressive Federation of University Students of South Korea held a press conference in demand of discontinuance of the US-south Korea joint military game and ardently appealed to prevent war and keep peace before the building of the US embassy in Seoul. Meanwhile, the National People's Action had a peace meeting for independence demanding permanent discontinuance of the US-south Korea joint military drill in Seoul. Preemptive strike cannot but produce an all-out war, the conservatives and Yun Seok-yol have been talking nonsense as "preemptive strike" because of their reliance on security and the interest of the US, censuring him reeling off "preemptive strike", the participants disclosed.   Lately, Japan deleted and amended the expressions which described labor conscription forced by it and comfort women for Japanese imperial army in the textbooks which will be used at high schools next year. Japan openly revealed its black attempts to teach students that colonial domination over Korea was legal. It shows that Japan has self-justified and imperialist nature, civil organizations in south Korea sharply criticized Japan's moves of distorting historical facts.
