The South Headquarters of Pan-National Alliance for Korea ’ s Reunification issued a statement a few days ago. The south and north of Korea confirmed the principles of national independence through the Pyongyang Joint Declaration in Sept. 2018 and promised to open a new era of reconciliation, peace and prosperity. But the inter-Korean agreements and promises were broken off and reduced to a mere sheet of paper, the organization pointed out in the statement. It said that the present south Korean authorities have fomented military tension in the Korean Peninsula by conducting war drills instead of keeping the promises between the south and north of Korea. It stressed that it would accelerate a nationwide anti-US action for dissolution of the south Korea-US alliance and withdrawal of the US troops from south Korea.   Of late, the south Korean people from all walks of life condemn the authorities which have buckled down to developing weaponry, throwing inter-Korean agreements overboard. The south Korean authorities have increased military expenditure to the maximum after 2008 and introduced all sorts of the latest weaponry. The south-north declarations were reduced to a scrap of paper due to continuous arms buildup, introduction of the latest war weaponry and war drills against north Korea. As a result, even resumption of north-south dialogue has become hopeless, the mass media and experts described. Campaign for peace against the US in Daejeon   Some days ago, the civil organizations in Daejeon launched a September campaign for peace against the US. The US forces has intervened in internal affairs of south Korea and put a brake on every try for mending inter-Korean ties, the civil organizations including the Headquarters of Daejeon for Implementing the June 15 Joint Declaration asserted. South Koreans should win back their sovereignty from the US for peace and unification of the Korean Peninsula. They carried placards  “ US troops, leave south Korea ”  and  “ Environmental pollution in the US bases! ” The campaign which was begun from Feb amid public interests is launched on fourth Saturday afternoon every month.  The October campaign for peace against the US is scheduled to be launched on Oct. 23.  

The south Korean military authorities and the US forces in south Korea introduced materials for THAAD base in Seongju, North Gyeongsang Province. Residents in Soseong-ri and civil organizations against THAAD blocked the entrance of the vehicles to THAAD base staging a sit-down strike outside a village hall from morning. The police tried to disperse the people and the people staged a sit-down strike arm in arm holding hand post  “ Go THAAD, come peace ”  and  “ Peace in Soseong-ri ” . The participants strongly denounced the south Korean military authorities and the US forces in south Korea going against will of the people, shouting the slogans  “ Withdraw THAAD ”  and  “ Stop construction of the base ” .   Some days ago, the National Promotion Committee for Suspension of South Korea-US Joint Military Drill and Development of Inter-Korean Relations held a cultural festival for peace against imperialism and the US forces. Pictures of one-man demonstration in condemnation of the US held on September 8, action in demand of investigation into the US forces and the US military bases in south Korea and pictures of the students denouncing the crimes of the USFK outside the US military base were screened at the festival. The south Korea-US joint military drill must be suspended in south Korea in order to make a peaceful Korean Peninsula. We should solve the problems by ourselves. The US takes advantage of its policy of the Korean Peninsula for its profits. Confidence in the US may lead to betrayal. Some days ago, a criminal in his 50s carrying “electric foot-cuff” put many women to death. He yelled out that it is heartbreaking that he failed to murder more women when he was arrested. His remarks gave a great shock to south Korea. It is awful to live in south Korea as the criminals have slaughtered the women at random, south Korea has been reduced to a dreadful society, south Koreans said.
