Recently, the south Korea-US alliance becomes the target of criticism. The political and public circles claim that a view toward the US should be corrected. The south Korean media commented that the south Koreans’ pent-up discontent at the US is latent in their claim. South Korea is reduced into modern-day colony of the US owing to the military occupation of the US. It is the common sense that alliance between the ruler and the governed is beyond all conception. The perfunctory alliance is a disgraceful relations forged by unilateral pressure. The alliance serves the interests of the US, regardless of sovereignty, intention and demand of the south Koreans.   Broad segments of south Korean people strongly assert the dismantlement of the alliance.  The AINDF would launch an uninterrupted campaign to put an end to the military occupation of the foreign forces in south Korea and break up the south Korea-US alliance.    October 29, 2020

   Risky military maneuver   The south Korean military are conducting reckless military drill  Hoguk  against the DPRK from Oct. 26, running counter to feelings of the public desirous of peace and security of the Korean Peninsula.      Of late, it has been revealed that the US air force in south Korea has kept 1.8 million rounds of depleted uranium at the 10th wing of the air force in Suwon and Hwaseong, south Korea. The shell is loaded with depleted uranium produced in the process of enrichment of uranium for nuclear weapon and reactor. The use of depleted uranium shell touched off a big splash at home and abroad as it broke out leukemia and cancer after the US army used first in the Gulf War in 1991 and it was defined as a weapon of mass destruction in the international community. It is amazing that the depleted uranium causing environmental pollution and noxious to the human body have been kept in south Korea.   However, the south Korean authorities have insisted that the stockpile of the depleted uranium shell will pose no problem as it was agreed between the south Korean and the US military.      Of late, residents in Yongsan had a press conference in demand of sound return of the US military base in Yongsan. Participated there were 21 organizations including religious bodies and trade unions in Yongsan and a statement under joint signature was issued.   The environmental degradation of the US military base is serious and it should be purified at the earliest date as it gives the people big trouble. The US should be accountable for it, the participants condemned strongly. They shouted slogans “The US is to blame for the environmental pollution of the US military base in Yongsan”    

   Punish the  US  army     The Progressive Federation of Students had a news conference in demand of a thoroughgoing investigation into the death caused by the US armored vehicle and enactment of bill punishing those who are accountable for it outside the National Assembly on Oct. 13.      The death was caused by the US army. The National Assembly should demand the US to make an apology for the death of south Koreans and request the US for assurances against the recurrence of the death. It is obligation of the National Assembly as it represents the interest of the south Koreans, said Park, a member of the organization.      The south Korean authorities have adopted low-profile diplomacy toward Japan’s undisguised effort for embellishing the unhappy past, only to spark off surging indignation of the nation. Despite the opposition of the people, the south Korean authorities have spouted a string of rubbish that reciprocal cooperation is urgent and bilateral relationship should be developed step by step.     It has been five months since that the opposition People’s Power Party had nominated Kim Jong-in as chairman of the emergency measure committee after defeat of the 21st general election. During the time, Kim has made desperate efforts to win popularity by changing party policy and party platform, however, the approval rate for it going into the tailspin and intraparty friction is aggravating with the passage of time. Arbitrariness and his dirty political career are at the bottom of the intraparty discord. In the past, Kim, who had served as a migratory politician with a rage for power, has posed himself as a judge as soon as he was elected as the chairman of the emergency measure committee.    Thoroughgoing investigation into death   The student and civil organizations had a joint press conference in demand of investigation into the death of south Koreans by an armored car of the US army and the punishment of those who are accountable for it outside the gate of the US 2 nd  division in Dongducheon on Oct. 10. The news conference was held under the auspices of the joint organizations including the Council of the Students for Democracy and Independent Reunification and the Progressive Federation of the Student of the South Korea. A ceremony for tearing the Stars and Stripes bearing the name of the US 2nd division to pieces was held after the news conference.    

    Of late, the laboring class resist against the opposition People’s Power Party’s claim for the need to revise the labor law. The Korean Confederation of Trade Unions had a press conference outside the office of the People’s Power Party to express their opposition to revision of the labor law, while saying the south Korean labor index is the worst in the world.       The revised bill of the PPP is little better than the moves pushed ahead by the Park regime which triggered a mass dismissal and wage cut, a spokesperson for the Federation of Korean Trade Unions said in a commentary. The workers condemned that the revised bill of the PPP is the detrimental revision of the labor law which deprives workers of their elementary rights, branding the PPP as the one inflicting heavy burden upon the people.  

   Against  the People’s Power Party   The headquarters of South Cheolla Provincial Solidarity for the People’s Sovereignty and the Progressive Federation of the Students had a news conference and made a protest visit to the office of the People’s Power Party for deceiving the south Korean people. The participants condemned that the PPP is dropping a bar on investigation into the Gwangju massacre and the punishment of those who are responsible for it. The PPP prayed before the Gwangju cemetery and had meetings with civil organizations, however, it did not dismissed those who hurled curse upon the popular resistance from its membership. It puts brake on enactment of law for punishing those who distorted the fact of popular uprising, they charged.    

   The Justice Solidarity for Settling the Issue of Sexual Slavery for the Imperial Japanese Army had the 1459th Wednesday demonstration outside the old Japanese embassy in Seoul on Sep. 30. The statue of a girl being erected throughout the world helps remake the history and serves as the center for boosting the international solidarity for the human rights and peace the secretary general of the organization said, mentioning the girls’ statue was built in Berlin, Germany.  However, the Japanese authorities are still denying the past history while arguing about the removal of the girl’s statue. We strongly demand Japan to stop shameless act and make an official apology and compensation, they asserted.

   Abolish the NSL   A few days ago, civil organizations of various circles in Busan including the joint action for abolishment of the NSL had a press conference to react against the police’s crackdown on the South Headquarters of the Pan-National Alliance for Korea’s Reunification outside the Busan Metropolitan Police Agency.       It’s obvious that the knife-edge of the NSL against the South Headquarters of the Pan-National Alliance for Korea’s Reunification will be directed to the progressive organizations and figures. We will stand up against the suppression with intensive struggle if the police authorities hinder the progress of reunification by bringing the NSL into force. They stated that the police authorities should stop suppression on the South Headquarters of the Pan-National Alliance for Korea’s Reunification and abolish the NSL.
