In support of “September Pyongyang Joint Declaration”

South Korean people of various strata are giving full support to the September inter-Korean summit and Pyongyang joint declaration. According to a recent survey conducted by KBS, 83.4 percent people said that the September inter-Korean summit proved successful. The south Korean people watched inter-Korean summit through TV screens in the streets and waiting rooms and clapped their hands in delight. They shed tears, saying “it is an indescribable impressive meeting”, “it is a historic day with full of emotion”, “it is exciting to be one” and “it is striking at thought of it.”                               As soon as the “September Pyongyang Joint Declaration” was adopted, personages of political and public circles including the ruling Democratic Party, the Party for Democracy and Peace and the Justice Party as well as figures of the conservative circles positively supported the declaration. In demand of lift of sanctions and  adoption of a war-end declaration Civic and social organizations launched a campaign demanding the lift of anti-DPRK sanctions and the adoption of a war-end declaration. The Daejeon Headquarters of the South Side Committee for Implementing June 15 Joint Declaration began an all-people signature campaign outside the Daejeon City Education Office on September 4, explaining to the passers-by the need to adopt a war-end declaration, conclude a peace treaty and lift the anti-DPRK sanctions. Oppose deployment of THAAD! On September 6, south Korean civic organizations held a press conference in front of the Blue House to demand the withdrawal of THAAD deployment, marking the first year of its deployment. THAAD is a part of weapon of the missile defense system of the US introduced by the south Korea to contain China and Russia, the civic bodies including the Action for Checking THAAD Deployment said. It would threaten peace of the Korean Peninsula and northeast Asia and spark arms race, they stated.   The north and the south agreed to totally stop all hostile acts against the other side, reconfirm the non-aggression and realize disarmament in a phased manner depending on the substantial building of military confidence between the two sides through the Panmunjeon declaration, they noted, and added that it is unconvincing the deployment of THAAD swimming against a new era of peace. BRITISH SOLIDARITY COMMITTEE FOR PEACE AND REUNIFICATION ON THE KOREAN PENINSULA   1st of September 2018 The British Solidarity Committee for Peace and Reunification on the Korean Peninsula (BSCPRKP)  issued the following statement concerning the blocking of the inter-Korean rail project;    The DPRK and south Korea planned to open an inter-Korean rail link which would effectively gave south Korea an overland route into Asia and beyond as well as greatly boosting inter-Korean co-operation and making a great contribution to peace and reunification .This had been a project that had been conceived a long time ago.
