   Of late, the US agreed to return twelve US military bases to south Korea at the 201st joint commission of the SOFA. The south Korean authorities decided to pay expenses for environmental purification in the US military bases at their own charge. Civil organization of different strata strongly criticized that the south Korean authorities took over contaminated four military bases in 2019 and twelve bases in this time without getting expenses for purification of polluted bases from the US.     More than 300 residents in Pohang, North Gyengsang Province held a rally in demand of suspension of helicopter flight drill of the US army, shutdown of shooting range and construction of hangar. They said that they would no longer withstand infringement of property rights and noise pollution.    On November 27, the residents in Seongju, North Gyengsang Province staged a sit-in demonstration around THAAD base to protest against introduction of equipment and materials for project under the pretext of betterment of accommodations.    In demand of strict punishment   On November 30, the Gwngju District Court sentenced Chun Doo-hwan guilty. Chun brought disgrace upon Rev. late Cho Bi-o who witnessed machine-gunning from a helicopter of the martial law force in May 1980.    Chun claimed that there is no strafing at the May 18 popular resistance, Rev. Cho’s evidence is a distorted assertion and Cho spread a series of cock-and-bull stories.    The court declared the machine-gunning at the uprisers undeniable historical fact.     Civil organizations held a rally outside the Gwangju district Court when the trial is underway.   They strongly demanded Chun, who is denying his crimes, to stand trial of history.        The spirit of fallen resistant cry out for arrest of Chun Chun should make an apology to the fallen uprisers    

      According to Jaju Sibo, the Progressive Federation of University Students called a news conference in demand of abolition of the NSL outside the office of a member of the PPP. The NSL is draconian law which should be abolished as it is the reproduction of law for maintenance of the public peace in the days of Japan’s military occupation of Korea. The law, which had suppressed the fighters for national independence, has watched every movement of the people, a member of the organization said. They chanted slogans in demand of total abolition of the NSL and PPP.

For the right to live   According to the People’s Voice, employees of the Eastar Jet stand firm against their dismissal.     The Eastar Jet was established in October 2007. It has been widely used by the people but the demand for travel has met drastic decrease due to COVID-19. It has failed to pay wages to the employees for eight months and it was in financial difficulties. It axed 600 employees in September.    The unemployed have been on an indefinite hunger strike from the middle of October outside the National Assembly building. Religious and civil organizations including the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions take part in the hunger strike. They formed a measure committee and demanded a severe punishment of those who dismissed the employees. South Korean mass media describe the mass dismissal is an inevitable result produced by south Korea.
