According to the People’s Voice, employees of the Eastar Jet stand firm against their dismissal.

The Eastar Jet was established in October 2007. It has been widely used by the people but the demand for travel has met drastic decrease due to COVID-19. It has failed to pay wages to the employees for eight months and it was in financial difficulties. It axed 600 employees in September.

The unemployed have been on an indefinite hunger strike from the middle of October outside the National Assembly building.

Religious and civil organizations including the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions take part in the hunger strike. They formed a measure committee and demanded a severe punishment of those who dismissed the employees.

South Korean mass media describe the mass dismissal is an inevitable result produced by south Korea.
